The second Wildfire Risk Management Project Clustering Event 2023 took place on November 22nd at the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels and was organized collaboratively by the European Research Executive Agency (REA), the Directorate General for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid (DG ECHO), the Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Firelogue project. It was a significant milestone in advancing cooperation among fire-related projects.
The event showcased the initial results of various initiatives, including the Wildfire Risk Management Green Deal Innovation Actions (TREEDS, SILVANUS, FIRE RES), FirEUrisk, and DG ECHO projects (AFAN, IPA Flood and Fires, WUITIPS). These projects offered practical insights into topics such as wildfire risk assessments and governance, contributing valuable perspectives to the field.
Focus was placed on exploring the coherence of policies related to wildfire risk management, specifically in areas like forestry strategies and nature conservation. The projects presented at the event delved into the complex interplay between various policies, providing a comprehensive understanding of the challenges in managing wildfires.
